Mr. Amaratunge counts 37 years impressive track record in Hospitality Industry in locally & overseas.
He has completed the Course in Computer Hardware Engineering at Raytronics Computer Systems Pvt Ltd, Colombo, Diploma in Information Technology at Alfalink Computer Institute, Colombo and Information Technology Skills Development (Advance Basic) Programme at Progressive Technologies (Pvt) Ltd, Colombo. He has completed the Course on ECO Tourism organized by the Ministry of Promotion of Botanical & Zoological Gardens at National Herbarium, Sri Lanka and holds a License from the National Tour Guide Lecturer Program of the Sri Lanka Tourist Board. He is a Member of the National Tourist Guide Lecturers Association of Sri Lanka.
He commenced his career from Koggola Beach Hotel, Koggala in 1980 as a Kitchen Trainee and held key positions in Rivi Ras Hotel, Mount Lavania, Hotel Lanka Oberoi (presently known as Cinnamon Grand), Hilton Colombo, Rezayet Company Ltd, Saudi Arabia, President Palace, United Kingdom, Gulf Catering Company Ltd, Saudi Arabia, Arabian Collection Gallery in Saudi Arabia and as the Duty Manager at Taj Airport Garden Hotel, Seeduwa (managed by Taj Group of Hotels, India).
Currently he is performing as a National Tour Guide Lecturer and is dedicated to maintain the highest standards of service and professionalism. In addition, he is appointed as the International Coordinator of the Borvorn Dhamma Budda International Medition Centre, Thailand.
He was the Liaison Officer to transfer the International Delegates from the Airport to Colombo for the Meeting of World Tourism Organization Commission for South Asia, which was organized by the Sri Lanka Tourist Board in July 2004.
Letters of Appreciation for the participation for TCRC Airport Exit Survey 2007 organized by the Tourism Cluster Research Committee in June 2007 and the excellent performance of Tour guiding to the delegates of International Police Association – Friendship Tour in July 2018.
A special momentum was awarded for being the Main Coordinator of handling the Buddhist delegation of 50 Thai Monks, who were on a foot pilgrimage through Buddhist countries around the world, arrived in Sri Lanka on 13th May 2023 for a foot pilgrimage of 178km within 10 days from Trincomalee to Kandy (Eastern to Central Province), in order to commemorate the 270th anniversary of the initiation of Upasampada in Sri Lanka by the Thai “Siam Upali” who took the Upasampada to Sri Lanka and came to the Asgiri Gedi Temple in Kandy.
